National News:  The Indian Army has firmly rejected recent media and social media reports alleging a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the Army clarified that no such incident had occurred and termed the circulating reports as baseless and misleading.

"Some reports are being shared on media and social media platforms suggesting a ceasefire violation in the Poonch area. We wish to clarify that no such firing has taken place along the Line of Control. We urge everyone to avoid spreading unverified or inaccurate information," the statement said. The Army also emphasized the need for responsible reporting, particularly on matters concerning national security, and advised the public to rely only on information from credible and official sources.

False Claims of Firing by Pakistan Circulated Since Morning

Starting early Tuesday, several news outlets and social media handles claimed that Pakistani forces had opened unprovoked fire in the Poonch sector. These reports alleged that the firing took place late at night and led to panic among civilians in the border areas. However, these claims have now been officially refuted by the Indian Army.

Last Confirmed Violation Reported in May 2025

It’s important to note that the last recorded instance of a ceasefire breach by Pakistan occurred on May 10, 2025, amid heightened tensions along the LoC. The situation had escalated following four consecutive days of cross-border drone strikes and missile activity, pushing both countries to the brink of open conflict. Peace was eventually restored through sustained military-level discussions and diplomatic interventions by third-party nations.

Trump Announced Ceasefire via ‘Truth Social’

Following the intense border exchange in May, U.S. President Donald Trump publicly declared via his platform ‘Truth Social’ that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “complete and immediate ceasefire.” This announcement came shortly after the LoC incidents and was followed by a de-escalation of military activity from both sides.

Surveillance Heightened After Drone Activity in Pir Panjal

Simultaneous to the May ceasefire violation, drone movements were detected in the Pir Panjal region and other sensitive border zones. This raised serious concerns among Indian security agencies, prompting the issuance of high alerts and intensified aerial surveillance. These developments had created fear and uncertainty among residents living in the border villages.

Army Urges Public to Rely on Verified Sources Only

In conclusion, the Indian Army has made a clear appeal to citizens, journalists, and social media influencers to exercise responsible behavior. It emphasized the importance of verifying sensitive information before sharing it, particularly when it pertains to national security and border stability. “Unverified news and rumors not only spread confusion but may also disrupt peace and security. Please rely solely on official channels for updates,” the statement added.
